Mumbai, July 18 -- The key equity benchmarks ended with modest losses today, marking a decline for the second consecutive session despite positive global cues. Investors will monitor ongoing corporate earnings and tariff development. The Nifty settled below 25,000 level.
Banking, consumer durables and pharma shares declined while media, metal and IT shares advanced.
As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 501.51 points or 0.61% to 81,757.73. The Nifty 50 index fell 143.05 points or 0.57% to 24,968.40. In the past two trading sessions, the Sensex and Nifty declined 0.45% and 0.97%, respectively.
