Mumbai, Jan. 20 -- The US Natural-gas futures witnessed a massive spike as markets eyed an extended cold stretch in the Northeastern part of the US. The counter zoomed around 20% to $3.72 per mmbtu and marked highest level in around three-weeks. The counter recorded its largest single-day gain since October 2024. The National Weather Service said a frigid"arctic airmass will result in temperatures 15 to 25 degrees Farenheit colder than usual in the Northeast and the Midwest. This has pushed up the commodity sharply amid some weakness in the US dollar index. On MCX, Natural Gas futures for January soared around 18.70% in last session to end at Rs 332.80 per mmbtu and currently quote at Rs 338.30 per mmbtu, up 1.65% on the day.
