Mumbai, Feb. 9 -- The key equity indices ended with limited gains on Friday after market oscillating between gains and losses. The Nifty closed above the 21,750 mark. Banking stocks were in demand. On the other hand, oil & gas metal and IT stocks corrected.

As per provisional closing data, the S&P BSE Sensex advanced 167.06 points or 0.23% to 71,595.49. The Nifty 50 index rose 67.95 points or 0.31% to 21,785.90.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.82% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index declined 1.36%.

The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1,329 shares rose and 2,509 shares fell. A total of 94 shares were unchanged.
