Mumbai, April 3 -- Silver prices sank more than 3% to drop below $33.50 per ounce, hitting a one-week low as Trump's sweeping tariffs triggered market turbulence. On MCX, silver futures tumbled over Rs.2500, touching Rs.97191 per kg. While Trump's 10% baseline tariff and steeper levies on China (34%), the EU (20%), and Japan (24%) fueled economic uncertainty, a 25% tariff on foreign-made cars added pressure. Gold surged to record highs, but silver struggled under broad commodity selloffs. Adding to market jitters, US data showed manufacturing contraction and job openings falling to 7.57 million. Investors now await the nonfarm payroll report for further direction.
