Mumbai, Feb. 1 -- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the launch of India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 in her Budget for 2026-27, alongside a sharp increase in the outlay for the electronics components manufacturing scheme (ECMS) to Rs 40,000 crore. The move builds on the gains of ISM 1.0, which expanded India's semiconductor sector capabilities. Building on the success of ISM 1.0, we will launch ISM 2.0 to produce equipment and materials, design full-stack Indian IP, and fortify supply chains, she noted.
