Mumbai, Nov. 24 -- The total number of active drilling rigs for oil and gas in the United States rose for the week ending Nov 21, according to new data that Baker Hughes published on Friday. The total rig count in the US rose by 5 to 554, according to Baker Hughes, down 29 from this same time last year. The number of active oil rigs rose by 2 in the reporting period, according to the data, reaching 419. Year over year, this represents a 60-rig decline. The number of gas rigs rose by 2 to 127, which is 28 more than this time last year. The miscellaneous rig count rose by 1 to 8.
