Mumbai, Dec. 29 -- Energy firms added oil and natural gas rigs for the first time in three weeks, energy services firm Baker Hughes said in its closely followed report. The oil and gas rig count, an early indicator of future output, rose by three to 545 in the week to December 23. Despite last week's rig increase, Baker Hughes said the total count was still down 44 rigs from this time last year, marking a 7.5% drop. Baker Hughes said the number of oil rigs rose by three to 409, while gas rigs were unchanged at 127.
