Mumbai, Jan. 5 -- Global oil prices are showing tepid upward movement despite the dramatic geopolitical shift caused by the U.S. military's capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Over the weekend, the US reportedly launched a major military operation against Venezuela. President Donald Trump announced it in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that US forces had carried out the strike. He also claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were taken into custody and removed from the country. Meanwhile, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) kept oil output unchanged on Sunday. Currently, WTI crude oil is holding at $57.28 per barrel.
