Mumbai, Dec. 5 -- US employers announced 71,321 job cuts in November 2025, the highest for the month since 2022 and the eighth time this year layoffs exceeded year-ago levels. Despite the rise, cuts were sharply lower than October's 153,074, which marked the worst October since 2003. So far in 2025, companies have announced 1,170,821 layoffs, up 54% compared to the same period in 2024 and the highest cumulative total since 2020. Hiring plans also softened, with only 9,074 new positions announced in November, the lowest in three months, pointing to a cooling labour market.
