Mumbai, July 28 -- New orders for manufactured durable goods in June, down two of the last three months, decreased $32.1 billion or 9.3% to $311.8 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced. This followed a 16.5% May increase.

Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.2%. Excluding defense, new orders decreased 9.4%. Transportation equipment, also down two of the last three months, drove the decrease, $32.6 billion or 22.4% to $113.0 billion.

Shipments of manufactured durable goods in June, up seven consecutive months, increased $1.4 billion or 0.5% to $302.5 billion. This followed a 0.2% May increase. Transportation equipment, up six of the last seven months, led the increase, $0.8 billion or 0.8% to $98.9 billion.
