Mumbai, Dec. 19 -- UK consumer confidence edged higher in December, with the GfK Consumer Confidence Index rising to -17 from -19 in November. All survey components improved as uncertainty eased, while the major purchase index jumped to -11, pointing to better Christmas spending momentum. However, GfK cautioned that ongoing cost-of-living pressures and rising economic uncertainty are likely to keep confidence fragile despite the recent improvement.
