Mumbai, March 4 -- Japan's unemployment rate held at 2.5% in January 2025, with the number of unemployed rising by 20 thousand to 1.74 million, the highest in six months. Employment grew by 130 thousand to a record 68.27 million, lifting the labor force to 70.01 million. The labor force participation rate climbed to 63.2% from 62.6% a year earlier. Meanwhile, the jobs-to-applications ratio improved to 1.26, a nine-month high.
