Mumbai, Feb. 28 -- Japan's retail sales grew 3.9 percent year-on-year in January, the fastest pace since February 2024, supported by rising wages. Sales increased across sectors, led by fuel 8.7 percent, non-store retailers 8.0 percent, and automobiles 5.9 percent. On a monthly basis, sales rebounded 0.5 percent after a 0.8 percent decline in December.
