Mumbai, Feb. 28 -- Germany's import prices jumped 3.1 percent year-over-year in January, the highest increase since February 2023. Consumer goods led the rise at 4.5 percent, followed by energy costs surging 6.2 percent, with electricity prices up 51.2 percent and natural gas 18.4 percent. Intermediate and capital goods also saw price increases. Excluding energy, import prices were 2.8 percent higher than a year ago. On a monthly basis, prices advanced 1.1 percent, up from December's 0.4 percent gain.
