Mumbai, Feb. 5 -- Germany's service sector made an encouraging start to 2025, recording stronger growth in business activity alongside a slight uptick in employment, according to the latest HCOB PMI survey.
Underlying demand remained subdued, as highlighted by a further - albeit slower - decrease in new business on the month, but firms nevertheless expressed greater optimism towards the outlook amid hopes of a post-election pickup in the economy and a boost from lower interest rates.
Price pressures meanwhile increased across the service sector at the beginning of the year, with rates of inflation of both input costs and output charges accelerating to the quickest since early 2024.
