Mumbai, Jan. 20 -- German economic sentiment strengthened at the beginning of the year to hit highest level in four-and-a-half years, the financial market survey conducted by the think tank ZEW showed Tuesday. The economic sentiment index rose to 59.6 in January from 45.8 in the previous month. The assessment of the current economic situation also improved, with the corresponding index edging up to -72.7 from -81.0 in December.
