Mumbai, May 19 -- Retail sales in China increased 5.1% on an annual level in April, the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics published on Monday showed.
The increase was 0.8 percentage points lower than the figure recorded during March, while it represented a 0.24% increase on a monthly basis.
Consumer goods sales in urban areas jumped 5.2% year-over-year, whereas the increase in rural areas amounted to 4.7%. Meanwhile, online retail sales surged 7.7% compared to the year prior.
