Mumbai, Feb. 3 -- Australia's retail sales fell 0.1% in December 2024, the first drop in nine months. Consumer spending weakened, raising expectations of a rate cut by the Reserve Bank of Australia. Declines were seen in clothing (-1.8%), other retailing (-1.4%), and dining (-0.5%), while household goods (1.6%) and department stores (0.4%) saw gains.
