Mumbai, Feb. 29 -- The total value of retail sales in Australia was up a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent on month in January, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday - coming in at A$35.723 billion.

Individually, sales were up for household goods (2.3 percent), clothing (2.4 percent), department stores and other (both 1.7 percent), and cafes and restaurants (1.3 percent). Food retailing was down 0.1 percent.
