Mumbai, Jan. 2 -- In a regulatory filing, Coal India said it has permitted coal consumers located in the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, who wish to import coal from India, to directly participate in the Single Window Mode Agnostic (SWMA) auctions conducted by the company, effective 1 January 2026.
Under the revised framework, foreign buyers are permitted to take part in SWMA auctions alongside domestic consumers. Earlier, coal consumers from across the border could access Coal India's coal only through domestic traders, who were allowed to buy and sell coal without any end-use restrictions.
