Mumbai, July 22 -- According to the latest data from.India Meteorological Department, the monsoon rainfall was 7 per cent higher at 366.4 mm between June 1 and July 21 against its long period average (LPA) of 342.1 mm. The east and north-east India received 22 per cent deficient rain, while the southern peninsula received 6 per cent below normal rainfall. The Central meteorological subdivision comprising Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat was 24 per cent surplus.
