Srinagar, Nov. 2 -- In September 2017, during a moderated discussion organised by the New York based Asia Society, Pakistan's then Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif mentioned that "A whole generation in my country doesn't remember what Pakistan was like 40 years ago." Elaborating on his observation, Asif said that Pakistan "was a liberal country in which people could read [and] different sects could live together- Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Shias, Sunnis, etc; they were all Pakistanis," and lamenting "Now it's a tragedy- tragedy on a national level."
