Srinagar, Jan 15, Jan. 16 -- Senior Superintendent of Police at the Cyber Investigation Centre, Ramesh Gupta, on Thursday highlighted the importance of public awareness in preventing cyber frauds, emphasizing that timely reporting is crucial for recovering defrauded money.Speaking on cyber safety, SSP Gupta said awareness is the first line of defence against cybercrime and urged caution while using digital platforms. He revealed that in 2025, over 18,000 cyber fraud complaints were reported nationwide, including numerous cases from Jammu and Kashmir.In J&K alone, cyber frauds worth Rs 184.91 crore were reported, with Rs 32.64 crore successfully recovered, largely due to prompt reporting by victims.
