Srinagar, June 23 -- Urban heat is a universal phenomenon where cities experience significantly higher temperatures than surrounding rural areas due to increasing built-up area, vehicular transport, concrete surfaces, reduced greenery and other human activities. This is creating "urban heat island" effect which worsens during summers, increases energy demands, impacts health, and intensifies climate change.
