Srinagar, Jan. 23 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday carried out multiple rescue operations across the Union Territory, saving more than 40 people stranded at different locations due to heavy snowfall, while Srinagar Police activated round-the-clock emergency helpline services amid worsening weather conditions. In Poonch district, police rescued over 30 passengers stranded in the Krishna Ghati area of Mendhar after their vehicles were caught in intense snowfall. Officials said the passengers had remained stuck for several hours before police teams rushed to the spot and safely evacuated them to safer locations despite difficult road and weather conditions.
