Srinagar, July 13 -- In a significant breakthrough against cybercrime, Police in Handwara has till date recovered an amount of Rs.28 lakh in the current year which had been defrauded from public through various online scams. Of this, Rs.16 lakh has already been restored to the rightful owners, while the remaining Rs.12 lakh has been secured and will be disbursed after completion of legal formalities and receipt of court orders.Throughout the current year, Police received several complaints regarding cyber fraud from residents across PD Handwara.
