Srinagar, Sept. 15 -- Legal Metrology Enforcement Jammu has imposed a penalty of Rs.1 lakh on a Delhi-based manufacturer of hardware items for violating the mandatory labeling and packaging provisions under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. During an inspection, it was found that the manufacturer had failed to provide complete and accurate declarations on pre-packed commodities used in house construction, thereby contravening legal requirements aimed at ensuring transparency and protecting consumers from misleading practices.Following the issuance of a show-cause notice and the company's acceptance of the omission, a penalty of Rs.1 lakh was imposed on the erring trader.The Departmen...
