Srinagar, July 9 -- In a major crackdown against illegal mineral extraction, the Geology and Mining Department Kupwara, under the leadership of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Mumtaz Ahmad, carried out a series of surprise raids during night hours in various parts of the district.The operations were conducted in mineral-sensitive zones including Gushi, Shanu Langate, and Khumriyal, where reports of unlawful mining and transportation of minerals had been mounting.
