Srinagar, Dec. 25 -- Christmas was observed in Srinagar on Thursday with special prayers and religious services at the Holy Family Catholic Church, the city's principal church where the festival is traditionally marked. Members of the Christian community gathered to attend special Mass services commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ (AS). The church was modestly decorated with lights, stars and a Christmas tree, maintaining the solemn and spiritual essence of the occasion. Authorities had made adequate security arrangements in and around the church to ensure the peaceful observance of the festival.
