Manipur, Nov 26, Nov. 27 -- In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Assam Rifles, in coordination with BSF, Machi Police, and Tengnoupal Forest Department, destroyed 10 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in Machi, Tengnoupal district of Manipur on 24 November 2025. The operation led to the uprooting of approximately 100 kilograms of mature poppy crop, estimated to be worth around Rs 1.73 crore, effectively targeting illegal narcotics networks operating near the Indo-Myanmar border. Officials said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and disrupt the supply chain of opium-based narcotics in the region.
