Srinagar, July 29 -- In a significant blow to cross-border narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles seized a massive consignment of Heroin No. 4 and Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs.40.05 crores during a meticulously planned operation near Melbuk, Zokhawthar in Mizoram on July 26, 2025.The operation, launched based on specific intelligence inputs, led to the recovery of 1.041 kg of high-grade Heroin No. 4 and 9.381 kg of Methamphetamine tablets, commonly referred to as "Yaba," a potent and addictive synthetic drug increasingly smuggled from the Myanmar border region.Assam Rifles, often referred to as the "Sentinels of the Northeast", conducted the anti-narcotics operation under its ongoing drive to curb the rising tide of drug trafficking acro...
