Doda, Jan 27, Jan. 27 -- Sixty people, including 40 Army soldiers, were rescued from a snowbound stretch at Chatergala Pass on the Bhaderwah-Chatergala axis after heavy snowfall blocked road connectivity. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) carried out the operation under Project Sampark, clearing nearly 38 km of snow-covered road, with snow accumulation reaching five to six feet at several points. All stranded soldiers and civilians were evacuated safely, with no casualties reported. Authorities noted that the pass is prone to closures during winter, and commended the BRO for ensuring safe restoration of connectivity under challenging conditions.
