Jammu, Feb 17, Feb. 18 -- A total of 15,661 human-wildlife conflict (HWC) incidents were reported in J&K between 2023 and 2025, resulting in 32 deaths and 350 injuries, Forest Minister Javed Rana informed the Assembly. Jammu district recorded the highest number of incidents, nearly 18% of the total. The minister said 42 control rooms have been established across the UT to respond to wildlife emergencies, equipped with tranquilizing guns, rescue vehicles, and trained personnel. Preventive measures, habitat improvement, and wildlife corridor protection are being implemented to mitigate conflicts, while compensation cases remain pending in some districts.
