Srinagar, Dec. 14 -- Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 2,69,682 completed rural houses registered in the names of women, either solely or jointly with their spouses, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), according to data presented in the Rajya Sabha. So far, 2,81,470 such houses have been sanctioned in the Union Territory, highlighting the gender-focused implementation of the scheme. The Ministry of Rural Development noted that evaluation studies, including a report by the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, found PMAY-G strengthened financial inclusion for rural households, with all instalments routed directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts.
