Chennai, Dec. 11 -- After a long wait, Mammootty's period-drama 'Mamangam' will be released on Thursday (December 12). The bilingual-movie is set in the 15th and 16th centuries of Kerala, when Zamorins ruled Calicut. The film is based on a religious festival, held once every 12 years at Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha in Kerala.

In an interview to Behindwoods Ice, M. Padmakumar, director of 'Mamangam' said, he did the work that was assigned to him. "I don't want to talk about controversies (surrounded by the movie). I was assigned a work and I did it with full responsibility," the director said. He also made it clear that he can't do a movie to entertain all types of audience.
