Dhaka, June 25 -- The interim government has formed a 36-member national committee, headed by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, to oversee commemorations of the 2024 July Uprising that reshaped Bangladesh's political landscape.

The 36-day observance, set to begin on Jul 1, will open with prayers at mosques, temples, churches and pagodas across the country in remembrance of those killed in the movement.

The programme will run through Aug 5.

The announcement came in a notice from the Chief Advisor's Office (CAO) on Wednesday.

Liberation War Affairs Advisor Faruk E Azam will serve as co-chair, while Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has been tasked with coordinating the programme.
