Dhaka, Oct. 28 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has ordered the rapid purchase of a sufficient number of body-worn cameras for law-enforcing agencies to ensure "transparency, peace and safety" during the national election.

He sets a December deadline to complete the purchase and operational training, aiming to prevent violence or any untoward incidents during the voting period.

The directive was disclosed on Tuesday at a meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna, according to a media statement from the Chief Advisor's Office.

The government has decided to procure 40,000 bodycams to support law enforcers in the parliamentary polls scheduled for February.
