Dhaka, Dec. 13 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the deaths of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers in an attack on a United Nations peacekeeping base in Sudan's Abyei region.

After receiving the information on Saturday night, Yunus said Bangladesh had already urged the United Nations to take urgent steps to ensure the highest possible medical treatment and all necessary support for the injured peacekeepers.

He added that the government would stand beside the families of the peacekeepers during this difficult time.
