Dhaka, March 29 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has returned home after completing his first state visit to China since assuming office as head of the interim government.

He landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 8:10pm, his Press Wing confirmed.

The interim prime minister departed from Beijing around 2:30pm Bangladesh time on Saturday.

At the airport, he was seen off by Hong Lei, assistant minister of foreign affairs and chief protocol officer to President Xi Jinping.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Yunus was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Peking University, following which he delivered a speech to students.

Yunus arrived in China for a four-day visit on Wednesday. On Friday, he met Chinese President Xi Jinping.
