Dhaka, July 7 -- Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has announced a Tk 5 million cash reward for the Bangladesh national women's football team after they secured their maiden spot in the AFC Women's Asian Cup finals.
Afeida Khandaker, Ritu Porna, and the team returned to the country on Sunday night after completing the qualifiers in Myanmar. On Monday, the advisor announced the prize.
Bangladesh began the qualifiers by thrashing Bahrain 7-0. A 2-1 victory against hosts Myanmar secured the red and green brigade's ticket to the Asian Cup.
In the third match, they crushed Turkmenistan 7-0, finishing the qualifiers undefeated under coach Peter James Butler.
