Dhaka, Oct. 28 -- Two lawyers have filed writ petitions at the High Court seeking compensation for the family of a man who died after being hit by a falling bearing pad from the Dhaka Metro Rail.

They also called for the formation of an investigation committee to probe the incident.

On Tuesday, Advocate AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon placed the petitions for hearings before the bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Fatema Anwar.

Supreme Court lawyers Tanvir Ahmed and Abdullah Al Mamun filed the two petitions in the public interest.

Mahbub later told journalists that the hearing had been completed, and both petitions would be heard together. The court is expected to issue an order on the matter on Wednesday.
