Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- An elderly woman has died and her husband remains in critical condition after they were allegedly drugged and robbed by a domestic worker at their home in Dhaka's Uttara.

Police said 62-year-old Ayesha Akhter and her husband, 68-year-old Anwar Hossain, were found unconscious at their flat in Sector 7 on Tuesday evening.

Ayesha was declared dead at the hospital, while her husband was admitted in serious condition.

Officers suspect a domestic worker, hired only two days earlier, administered the sedatives before looting valuables.

Police said they received an emergency call around 7:45pm and rushed to the couple's fifth-floor apartment.
