Dhaka, Feb. 5 -- A review of past elections in the border district of Lalmonirhat shows that, historically, Jamaat-e-Islami has never been a major competitor despite its organisational presence.

Following the 2024 July Uprising, candidates from Jamaat, however, have emerged as formidable contenders in the district.

Voter sentiment indicates that in two of the three constituencies, fierce competition is expected between Jamaat and the BNP.

If Jamaat secures a win in any constituency this time, it would mark a historic milestone for the party.

The BNP, meanwhile, also lacks a recent winning record in the district, meaning a potential victory would provide a fresh experience for the party as well.
