Dhaka, May 31 -- Democratic Rights Committee President Anu Muhammad has said war crimes trials are being propagated as anti-Islamic.
Describing those who portray anti-war crimes discourse as anti-Islamic as "dangerous criminals", he said: "This is a terrible lie. Most of those who were killed in 1971 were devout Muslims. Therefore, calling the trials of their killers anti-Islamic is, in fact, an insult to Islam itself."
Speaking at the "Citizen Solidarity Rally" outside the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University on Saturday afternoon, he urged everyone to collectively resist those who distort history and engage in politics of discrimination and oppression.
