Dhaka, March 20 -- The Chief Advisor's Office says that Australian visas for Bangladeshi citizens will now be processed at the Australian High Commission in Dhaka from now on.
Australian Minister for Home Affairs Tony Burke informed Bangladesh's Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury of the decision in a telephone conversation on Thursday, according to the CAO.
The home advisor confirmed the decision at the advisory council meeting on Thursday and said that the decision will take effect immediately.
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus had urged Burke to begin visa processing in Dhaka during the Australian home minister's visit last October.
Previously, visa applications from Bangladeshi citizens were processed in New Delhi.
