Dhaka, March 10 -- A video showing a young woman tying up and beating a suspected mugger near Dhaka's Kajla footbridge has gone viral on Facebook.

Police said that locals caught two individuals in the act of mugging, assaulted them and handed them over to law enforcement late on Sunday night.

In the clip doing the rounds on social media, the suspect is seen tied to a post as the woman strikes him with a belt. Bystanders cheer her on and pressure the suspect to confess. At one point, the man claims he was just eating khichuri, but the woman counters that she had been the one distributing khichuri in the area earlier that evening.
