Dhaka, Jan. 25 -- Three people have died, and six others have been injured as a bus hit a battery-powered rickshaw in Puthia, Rajshahi.

The accident occurred around 5:30pm on Sunday along the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway, said Pabna Highway Police's Mozammel Haque Kazi.

Following the incident, students and locals blocked the highway, accusing police of neglecting their duties, which caused traffic congestion stretching several kilometres and left passengers stranded for hours.

Traffic movement returned to normal around 8:30pm.

Officer Mozammel said the rickshaw was heading towards Puthia when it got hit head-on by an oncoming bus, severely damaging the vehicle.
