Dhaka, Jan. 31 -- A vessel carrying 58,359 tonnes of wheat from the United States, the MV WAF Artemis, has anchored off Chittagong Port.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Food said the shipment was imported under a cash purchase agreement based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the interim government and the US.

Under the agreement, a total of 220,000 tonnes of wheat is scheduled for import.

This latest delivery marks the third shipment, following two earlier consignments totalling 114,093 tonnes.

The first shipment from the US arrived on Oct 25, carrying approximately 57,000 tonnes of wheat.
