Dhaka, Jan. 24 -- Two people have been killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Faridpur's Bhanga Upazila.

The accident happened around 10am on Saturday on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway, according to police.

Bhanga Highway Police Station chief (OC) Md Helal Uddin said a bus travelling from Barishal to Dhaka collided with a truck, killing the truck's helper at the scene.

Eleven people were taken to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex for treatment, where another injured person later died. Others remain in hospital.

The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.

The bodies of the two people who died have been taken to the hospital morgue, police added.
