Dhaka, Dec. 8 -- Two Bangladeshi migrant workers have reportedly died from cardiac complications within a span of 12 hours in the Maldives.

The men, Ahmed Kamal, 48, and Selim Uddin, 64, were both from Syleht's Moulvibazar.

Md Jasim Uddin, welfare assistant at the Bangladesh High Commission, said the two incidents occurred separately on Saturday in the capital, Male.

Both workers were taken to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital after falling ill, where doctors later declared them dead, he added.

Kamal was living legally in the Maldives, and his insurance provider will cover the costs of repatriating his body to Bangladesh. Colleagues have already begun the necessary procedures.
